My mom kept saying that this movie had it exactly how it felt for her to have to go back and live with my grandpa and have to be a "little girl" for a while again.
A little over half way through the movie the dad shows up again and tells the lady that he is getting very close to her best friend that he had cheated on her with. He wants her to stay out of it and such. The daughter realising that her dad was leaving again goes and packs her stuff to go with him. He stops her from going in the car and says that, in basically these same words, he doesnt want her around right now, maybe later.
Again the movie hits the nail on the head. My dad has proven to be more tactfull than this but the same thing occured with us when he came to my grandpa's house with a U-Haul truck full of stuff that we had left in Colorado when we moved. He had decided he did not want it and gave it back to us.
Nearing the end of the movie the grandma dies. After having a nice day with the family she has a heart attack in bed. (WOW! another wack to the head of the nail by the way). The mom and daughter take the house that they were living in and continue to live there, along with another boy the grandma was taking care of. (the lady's nephue).
In the end the mom started dating a guy she had known from high school. The daughter asks her if she is going to marry him if she would take his last name. The mom said that she wasnt going to get married for a LONG time (ahhh, i remember when my mom thought that too.. haha). It ended fairly hopeful of the future.
The verry end the little girl was talking as they walk in the distance of a county fair. she said, "My dad says that childhood is the best time of your life, but I agree with mom. She says that childhood is the part of your life you spend the rest of it trying to overcome."
I thought that was a pretty nifty quote from a movie that hit my childhood right on so thought it would fit as a signature quote.
If anyone recognises this movie and knows the name please let me know.. i have forgoten the name of it if I even knew it to begin with haha.
